Upon completion of this program, the technician will be able to:
Summarize the importance of REMS programs in the community and hospital pharmacies, Differentiate between a REMS program and the use of medication safety guides; Describe the different types of REMS programs available; Recognize medications with REMS programs; Review the pharmacy technician’s role in REMS programs for various medications; and Identify medications used in their pharmacy setting that have REMS programs and how they can more effectively work with these patients and medications

At the end of the presentation, pharmacy technicians will be able to:
Define medication safety and its importance to pharmacy practice; Explain the pharmacy technician’s role in medication safety plans for community and hospital pharmacies; Identify common medication safety issues in community and hospital pharmacies; Describe methods for preventing and resolving medication safety issues; Predict outcomes for medication safety issues based on case scenarios; and Create an individual umbrella for use in their pharmacy setting to prevent medication safety

At the end of the presentation, pharmacy technicians will be able to:
Explain the importance of medication adherence; Describe the pharmacy technician’s role in medication adherence; Outline strategies for pharmacy technicians to utilize to improve medication; and Design an individual plan for use in their pharmacy setting to promote medication adherence
